24-1209P_LONGING FOR GOD PT-3 (TRAVAIL OF SOUL)

Jer 21:10  For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire. 

Psa 42:1  To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 
Psa 42:2  My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? 
Psa 42:3  My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? 
Psa 42:4  When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. 
Psa 42:5  Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. 
Psa 42:6  O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. 
Psa 42:7  Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

Psa 42:9  I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? 
Psa 42:10  As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God? 
Psa 42:11  Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. 

Jas 5:13  Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. 
Jas 5:14  Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 
Jas 5:15  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 
Jas 5:16  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 

*WE KNOW IT IS TRUE THAT GOD WILL MEET A DESPERATE SOUL.

74      We know it is true that God will meet a desperate soul. Now, we all know that. But it usually takes something to drive us into that, to that despair, to the desperation. It takes something to do it.

  75      We find out, in James 5:15, that the Bible said that. "The effectual fervent," that's desperation, "effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. When a righteous man, a good man, gets in travail," or soul travel, or travail, either one. I--I think "travel" is a better word. Travail, or travel, either which one you want to call it. But when a--a--a soul gets in--in desperation, in travailing, an effectual fervent prayer of a man that can show the Token, it does something. See?

  76      Notice what the Bible said here also, in James 16, 5:16, said, if... "Confessing our faults," getting right, making ready for it, "confess our faults one to another." Having no--no faults... Ask people to pray for you, confessing our faults one to another, and praying one for the other. There you are. With love, love, that I got confidence I can confess to you my wrong; and you can confess to me your wrong. And I love you well enough that I'll pray for you, and you pray for me; and we'll stay with it, with effectual fervent prayer, until it's answered. That's, that's desperation. That's what we should have all the time.
 
*WHY DO YOU HUNGER, CHURCH, WHY DO YOU THIRST? IT'S THE FATHER TRYING TO REVEAL THIS HIDDEN SECRET TO YOU.

503      But all this mystery is revealed only, as He promised, to His Bride. Hell is against this Truth, of the revelation of this mystery. But the Bride is standing on it. That's Her stand.

504    Why do you hunger, Church, why do you thirst? It's the Father trying to reveal this hidden secret to you. But you let so many things get it out of you. You let your job, you let your wife, you let your husband, you let your children, you let the cares of the world, you let some pastor, you let somebody else get that out of you, when you know that way down in your heart you're thirsting, hungry. It's God trying to reveal it to you, see, the revelation. The last day is here. Notice now.
 
*IF THERE'S A DEEP CALLING, THERE'S GOT TO BE A DEEP TO RESPOND TO IT.

E-37    And as David said in the days gone by, "When the deep calleth to the deep..." If there's a deep calling, there's got to be a deep to respond to it. Listen, if there no Scripture telling me that there was Divine healing, you people setting here tonight, I'd still believe that there was.

Look. Before there can be a--a creation, there has to be a Creator to create the creation. Maybe that's Greek to you, but listen.

Here--here some time ago, I read in a paper, a city below us--where a little boy was eating the erasers off of pencils. And the teacher was all disturbed about it and sent word to the mother. The mother found the little fellow out on the porch, eating the pedal off of a bicycle: rubber. So, she taken him down to the clinic, and they examined the little fellow, and they found out that his little body needed sulfur. And sulfur was in the rubber. But before he could desire sulfur, there had to be some kind of a sulfur out there to respond to that desire, or he'd a never desired it.
 
*I'LL GIVE YOU MY ESTIMATION OF WHAT I THINK THAT THE CLOSEST THING TO AN EVIDENCE THAT A MAN IS A CHRISTIAN…IT'S TRAVAIL OF SOUL, A PERSON THAT'S ALWAYS SO HUNGERING AND THIRSTING FOR GOD.

85-165    But it's accepting the Person Christ Jesus, and these other things come right on in and they fit together. Let every member in this body this morning, let this little group of people, if we could pull the curtains down along on each side and every person in here receive the Person Christ Jesus, there wouldn't never be a fuss; there would never be no argument. There'd just be a perfect love. Yet you'd still believe this and believe that, but it'd just be so full of love, you'd just... See? That's it.

Now, Jesus said, "By their fruit you shall know them." And the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, goodness, meekness, gentleness.

Now, I'm going to... I'll give you my estimation of what I think that the closest thing to an evidence that a man is a Christian, than anything I know of. You know what it is? It's travail of soul, a person that's always so hungering and thirsting for God. They just simply... Day and night they--they just can't stand it. They--they--they got to do something for God. They--they're full of love and they're just a soul-travail, just travailing all the time. The Bible said, "He that goeth forth sowing in tears will doubtless return again, rejoicing, bringing with him precious sheaves." Is that right? All those things...
 
*WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW WHAT I THINK THE GREATEST NEED OF THE CHURCH TODAY?.....IS A NO SOUL TRAVAIL.

E-12    You, would you like to know what I think the greatest need of the church today? Would you like... What I think... Where I think the lacking is? Is a no soul travail. The people are not broke up enough. They're... There--there's no burden seemingly. And you give me someone that's just so tore up about lost souls that they just cry and are--are wanting a revival so bad till they can hardly eat, just simply can't...

If you'll read the history of the world and the religious history, you'll find out it always taken that kind of a spirit to bring a revival. That's right. See? When Zion travailed or traveled (I think's a better word), why the--then she brought forth children. See? You--you have to be tore up. It's the atmosphere of anything.

*AND AS LONG AS HUMAN BEINGS SEARCH, AND HUNGER, AND THIRST, CALLING FOR THE POWER OF GOD, THERE'S GOT TO BE A POWER OF GOD SOMEWHERE TO RESPOND TO IT.

  E-38    And as long as human beings search, and hunger, and thirst, calling for the power of God, there's got to be a power of God somewhere to respond to it. Before there can be a creation, there has to be a Creator in there creating that creation.

When a man longs to see God, there's got to be a God somewhere that created that desire in him. If the deep's calling to a deep, there's got to be a deep to respond to that, because the deep had to be first there to create the call that's in you.

  E-39    Now, that little woman was on her road, everything against her. But when once, she got a feeling that God was a real God, God was real, she begin to thirst. Another one come in, said, "Oh, I seen him stand... One of the most mysterious things I ever seen, but he solved it right out under the power of his God, and told them exactly the answer." Oh, it just shook the little queen.
She said, "Oh, I must see it. I must see it. I'm a human being. My life, my eternal destination is before me. I must see it." Nothing's going to stop her.

You don't think of dangers. You don't think of criticism. You don't think of what somebody else is going to say.

86-170    But if I had to have it, I'd put that first. 'Cause if you've got that, the other will take place. Uh-huh. See? If you've got that, if you'll just get so hungry for God, shouting will take place. If you got so hungry for God, speaking in tongues will take place. If you got so hungry for God, you'll just keep on hungering, keep yourself. Now, you go to seeing yourself getting indifferent, just remember, look out, there's another spirit trying to work itself in there. Stay right before God, humble, with travail of soul. Just be all that good old fashion...
