23-0505A_THE CHOOSING OF A BRIDE Pt-2 (THE CHURCH HAS THE CHARACTER THAT WAS IN CHRIST)

23-0505A_THE CHOOSING OF A BRIDE Pt-2 (THE CHURCH HAS THE CHARACTER THAT WAS IN CHRIST)

Gen 24:12  And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.

Gen 24:13  Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water:

Gen 24:14  And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master.

Gen 24:15  And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

Rev 21:9  And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

2Co 11:2  For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
2Co 11:3  But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
2Co 11:4  For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
2Co 11:5  For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
2Co 11:6  But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
2Co 11:7  Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?
2Co 11:8  I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.
2Co 11:9  And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
2Co 11:10  As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
2Co 11:11  Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
2Co 11:12  But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
2Co 11:13  For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
2Co 11:14  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2Co 11:15  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
2Co 11:16  I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.
2Co 11:17  That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
2Co 11:18  Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.
2Co 11:19  For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.
2Co 11:20  For ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.
2Co 11:21  I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.
2Co 11:22  Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.
2Co 11:23  Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
2Co 11:24  Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
2Co 11:25  Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
2Co 11:26  In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
2Co 11:27  In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
2Co 11:28  Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.
2Co 11:29  Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?
2Co 11:30  If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities.
2Co 11:31  The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.
2Co 11:32  In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king kept the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desirous to apprehend me:
2Co 11:33  And through a window in a basket was I let down by the wall, and escaped his hands.

***A MAN SHOULD THINK AND PRAY BEFORE HE CHOOSES A WIFE.

THE.CHOOSING.OF.A.BRIDE_  LA.CA  V-2 N-28  THURSDAY_  65-0429E

46      Now, if the spiritual or... The natural is a type of the spiritual. Then, the choosing of a bride, in the natural, is a type of choosing a Bride, the Bride, in the spiritual.

47    Now, it's a serious thing when we go to choose a wife, a man, for the vows here is until death do we part. That's how we should keep it. And you take that vow before God, that only death will separate you. And I think we should. A man in his right mind, that's planning a future, that he should choose that wife very careful. Be careful what you're doing. And a woman choosing a husband, or accepting the choice of a husband, should be real careful what she's doing, and especially in these days. A man should think and pray before he chooses a wife.

*THE KIND OF WOMAN THAT A MAN WOULD CHOOSE, WILL REFLECT HIS AMBITION AND HIS CHARACTER.

THE.CHOOSING.OF.A.BRIDE_  LA.CA  V-2 N-28  THURSDAY_  65-0429E

58      Again, the kind of woman that a man would choose, will reflect his ambition and his character. If a man chooses the wrong woman, it reflects his character. And what he ties himself to, shows truly what's in him. A woman reflects what's in the man when he chooses her for wife. It shows what's down in him. No matter what he says outside, watch what he married.

*NOW, WE HERE SEE PLAINLY THE SPIRITUAL PLAN, OF GOD'S PLANNING FOR HIS FUTURE HOME WITH HIS FUTURE BRIDE, COMES INTO VIEW NOW.

65    When God gave a man a wife, He gave him the best thing He could give him, outside of salvation. But when one goes to trying to take a man's place, then she's about the worse thing that he could get a hold of. Now, that's right. See?

Now we can see the spiritual application.

66    I--I know that's bad, you think it's bad, but it's the Truth. We don't care how bad it is, we got to face up to the fact. That's what the Bible teaches. See?

THE.CHOOSING.OF.A.BRIDE_  LA.CA  V-2 N-28  THURSDAY_  65-0429E

67      Now, we here see plainly the spiritual plan, of God's planning for His future Home with His future Bride, comes into view now.

*THE MOON AND THE SUN IS HUSBAND AND WIFE. AND WHILE THE SUN IS GONE AWAY, IT THROWS ITS LIGHT AGAINST THE MOON

MAKING.A.WAY_  JEFF.IN  SUNDAY_  56-0304

E-32    ..... He gave the same thing through the moon at night, of the--being the sun in the daytime, the moon being a shadow of the sun, or the sun shining on the moon, making a shadow. The moon and the sun is husband and wife. And while the sun is gone away, it throws its light against the moon to give us a smaller light, until the sun comes. And when the sun comes the moon fades out.

And Christ is the Son Who's gone to glory and shining on the Church with the same kind of Light He shined when He was here. And the Church is the Light of the world until Jesus comes and it all melts together, like the moonlight and the sunlight becomes one light when it emerges together. When Christ and His Church comes together at the great millennium, they emerge into One.

E-33    And today ye are the Light of the world. In His presence--in His absence, rather, He is giving you the Light to shine with while He's here.

*THE REASON THE MOON DON'T SHINE, IS BECAUSE THE MOON AND THE SUN BLENDS TOGETHER… THE SUN AND THE MOON IS HUSBAND AND WIFE…

HE.SWORE.BY.HIMSELF_  JEFF.IN  V-26 N-11  SUNDAY_  54-1212

47    And if you notice, when the sun comes up, the reason the moon don't shine, is because the moon and the sun blends together. The moon and the sun is one. Did you know that? The moon is nothing but a--a missile hanging in the air. And the sun's a shining on it, reflecting its light to the earth. The sun is shining through the moon, to the moon, to reflect. See, when the sun's gone around here, it throws its light over here on the moon, and the moon reflects it back to the earth. In other words, the sun and the moon is husband and wife, or either the sun and the moon is Jesus and the Church. While Jesus is gone away, He reflects through the Church His Light. See? So if the moon give Light, what would the sun do?

And if the law gave light, if the law gave healing, what will the Gospel do? See? Oh, it'd be powerful, wouldn't it? Certainly, it would. When did they... See, if... Look, Jesus...

***NOW, LIKE HUSBAND AND WIFE, THE SUN AND MOON IS, CHURCH AND CHRIST.

GOD'S.CHOSEN.PLACE.OF.WORSHIP_  JEFF.IN  V-5 N-7  SATURDAY_  65-0220

34    Just like, the moon is a shadow of the sun. It serves in the absence of the sun, just like the Church is to serve in the absence of the S-o-n of God. In the absence of the Son, the lesser Light, the Church, the believers, serve God and give Light in the absence of the Son. But when the sun rises, you don't see the moon no more, because it's gone down. It doesn't need its light anymore, because it only gets its light secondarily, off the sun. Now, like husband and wife, the sun and moon is, Church and Christ.

*WHEN GOD GAVE A MAN A WIFE, HE GAVE HIM THE BEST THING HE COULD GIVE HIM, OUTSIDE OF SALVATION.

THE.CHOOSING.OF.A.BRIDE_  LA.CA  V-2 N-28  THURSDAY_  65-0429E

64      Now, I'm not much of this modernistic taste, of women working. When I seen these women with these uniforms on, riding around in this city, on motorcycles, as police, it's a disgrace to any city that will let a woman do that. See? See? As many men that's without work, it shows the modern thinking of our city. It shows the degrading. We don't have to have them women out there like that. They ain't got no business out there like that.

65    When God gave a man a wife, He gave him the best thing He could give him, outside of salvation. But when one goes to trying to take a man's place, then she's about the worse thing that he could get a hold of. Now, that's right. See?

*SHE, THE BRIDE THAT A MAN WOULD CHOOSE, IS GOING TO REFLECT HIS CHARACTER.

THE.CHOOSING.OF.A.BRIDE_  LA.CA  V-2 N-28  THURSDAY_  65-0429E

79      But, you know, you have to plan, look, pray, when you're choosing. For, we see, by this, the Word of promise. She, the bride that a man would choose, is going to reflect his character. It reflects what's in him.

80    Now, could you imagine a man, filled with the Holy Ghost, take something like that to be a wife? [Congregation says, "No."--Ed.] I--I--I just don't see it, brother. Now, maybe I'm just an old crank. But, you know, I--I just can't understand that, see, notice, for it's going to reflect what's in him. She is going to help him make his future home.

*COULD YOU IMAGINE TAKING THE MODERN CHURCH TODAY FOR A BRIDE?

81    Now, then, when we change back now for a moment, to the spiritual side. And when you see a church that's in the world, acts like the world, anticipating in the world, partaking of the world, counting God's Commandments as if He never had wrote Them, then you--you can just imagine Christ ain't going to take a Bride like that. Could you imagine taking the modern church today for a Bride? Not my Lord. I don't... I could hardly see that. No. Remember, now, a man and his wife are one. Would you join yourself to a person like that? If you would, it would certainly kind of disappoint my faith in you.

THERE IS TWO--TWO DIFFERENT ELEMENTS IN THE HUMAN BODY THAT HAS A MIND

INSPIRATION_  OWENSBORO.KY  SATURDAY_  56-0128

Today the reason we're having such times as we are, is because there's too much halfway conversions, intellectual conversion. There is two--two different elements in the human body that has a mind, and one of them--or reasoning. One of them the reasoning is of the mind, which is intellectual. The other one is the soul, which does not reason but believes the Word of God.

INSPIRATION_  OWENSBORO.KY  SATURDAY_  56-0128

*EVERY CHRISTIAN REPRESENTS CHRIST.

THE.KINSMAN.REDEEMER_  JEFF.IN  V-6 N-8  SUNDAY_  60-1002

The lukewarm church, the lukewarm believer, as each believer represents the church... Every American represents America. Every German represents Germany. Every Christian represents Christ.

*THE REAL, TRUE BORN-AGAIN CHURCH MUST HAVE THE--THE CHARACTER THAT WAS IN CHRIST, BECAUSE THE HUSBAND AND WIFE ARE ONE.

THE.CHOOSING.OF.A.BRIDE_  LA.CA  V-2 N-28  THURSDAY_  65-0429E

82      And, then, how about God joining Himself to something like that, a regular denominational prostitute? You think He would do it, "Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof"? He would never do it. She must have His character in her. The real, true born-again Church must have the--the character that was in Christ, because the husband and wife are one. And if Jesus did only that which pleased God, kept His Word and manifested His Word, His Bride will have to be of the same kind of character. She could not, by no means, be a denomination. Because, then, no matter how much you want to say, "no," she is controlled by a board somewhere, that tells her what to do and what she can't do, and, many times, a million miles off of the true Word.

THE BEST WE CAN

E-40    And I looked at her then. She weeps. She felt sorry for her life. But everybody's turned her down. And she said, "Surely, He won't mind." There's something about women that's a little different than--than men. Usually she's got a high instinct. I would that she would use it for God.

She gets her coin and stays with it. I can see her put it in her sock. She gathered up her clothes, put them around her, and on the street she goes. She goes into a--a perfume shop. And there's an old Jew--fellow setting there, saying. "My, why the business has been bad today. I haven't even made the rent." Here comes this woman in. As she...?... He comes out, he don't act nice; say, "How do you do? What could I do for you?" Said, "Well, what do you want?"

She said, "I want the best spikenard box you've got," and she lays the money down. When he hears the clink of the money, oh, that's different.

So he said, "See how much you got." And he counted out two hundred and eighty Roman denarii. And it's just enough. So he gives it to her.

I can hear him say, "Wonder where she's going? Wonder what she's going to do with that?" That was the last penny she had, but she knew it.

And she knew He was deserving of the best. He... She never said, "Give me a good one." She didn't say, "Give me a good anointment." Said, "Give me the best you got." Praise God. That's what we ought to do. Give Him the best there is: The youth of your life; the best of your life; the praise of your lips. [Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.]

THE.UNWELCOMED.CHRIST_ LAUSANNE.SWITZERLAND  SUNDAY_  55-0828A

E-41    Notice, here she goes. She comes out. She looks in there. Now, she sees Him over there, so miserable. Now, she's not welcome. They'll probably throw her out. But yet she goes. They all going her way, trying to get to Jesus. Did you do the same? Would you elbow your way through critics? Would you elbow your way, today, through unbelief? Just to see, get to...?... well? Would you push aside everything, all the criticism, all the unbelief, elbow your way...?... so that you can come... Get through the crowd until she got to Him. And there she stood weeping: she couldn't hold herself. The tears was running down her cheeks. She grabbed ahold of His feet, the tears running down her, tried to stand up; she couldn't do it. Oh, the tears running down her cheeks. And the first thing you know, she said, "I must be beside myself." Oh, that you would get beside yourself.

Listen, brethren. I wish the Christian church would get beside themselves long enough to get saved. Sure, she broke all the rules. Who cares about the rules? Let's get to Christ. We don't care about the church rules. Get to Jesus. Oh, when I come to Him, I broke every church rule: I wept; I screamed; I was beside myself. I was by Jesus.

*GIVE HIM ALL THAT YOU GOT, FOR HE MIGHT NOT PASS THIS WAY AGAIN. ONE.OF.THE.MEANEST.MEN.IN.TOWN_  CHICAGO.IL  SATURDAY_  61-0429B

E-34    …..I want the best that you've got. I want, not just an ordinary alabaster box of this anointment; I want the best you got on the counter. It's for a special occasion." That's what you got to give to Jesus. Take your first opportunity to get to Him, and give Him your best. Give Him your heart. Give Him all that you got, for He might not pass this way again. Let's do all we can for Him while we can.

ONE.OF.THE.MEANEST.MEN.IN.TOWN_  CHICAGO.IL  SATURDAY_  61-0429B

E-35    She gets the alabaster box under her arm, and up the street she goes. And she comes to the bars, and there was Jesus with dirty feet, still setting, no one paying any attention to Him. She thought, "How can I get in?" After... Just a few minutes before the toast was all made, and the fine, fancy wines drank, and everything. She must've seen the foot-wash flunky was gone, so she slipped in, slips around in the back. You know, there's something about it. If you ever get a look at Him, you'll do anything to get to Him. I don't care what it is. If you have to slip under the back of the tent or whatever is, you'll do something to get to Him. If He ever looks you in the eyes, and you can see Who He is...

E-70    ….."I want the best alabaster box that you got. I want the best one."

Oh, that's what. God expects you to give Him your best, not just a little time on the side, but He wants your best. He must have the best.

And he might've said, "What do you want with this?"

"Oh, it's for a special occasion. I must have it."

"Well, everybody's gone to..."
