  26      The Spirit of God can be identified by Its characteristic. See? The Spirit of God, and the spirit of the church. There is a church spirit, and a Spirit of God that's absolutely not like the church spirit, at all.

There is a denominational spirit.

27    There is a national spirit. There is a spirit of the nation. Every nation, when I go into, you walk in there, you find a different spirit. I went into Finland, fine people, but there was a Finnish spirit. I go down into Germany, there is a German spirit.

Matthew said, Saint Matthew 24:24, said, that, "The two spirits in the last days," the church spirit of the church people, and the Bride Spirit of the Bride people, "would be so close together till it would deceive the very Elected if it was possible." That's how close.

If we were Germans, we'd like Germany. If we were Finland, we would do as they do in Finland. If they're Americans, they have the American spirit. You have power to lay your life down. You're doing it right now for Christ. And then you have power to take it up again. See? You have power to lay it down and power to take it up.

For it's the very Spirit of God that's in you that raises you up, is the very Spirit of God that was in Christ that raised Him up. So, you have power to lay it down; you have power to take it up.

And when you get to a place that the Holy Spirit has you, not you the Holy Spirit, but the Holy Spirit has you... You say, "I got the Holy Ghost." I don't think that should be said. You must say, "The Holy Ghost got me." And then when the Holy Ghost gets you, the burdens, the yoke is easy. Then you pick up the big gates of Gaza and pack them straight to Calvary. And there on Mount Calvary you lay them at the feet of Jesus and pray for your enemies, not with a grudge, "Lord if You'd bust him open." No, but with something within your heart that, "Dear God, that man is a man like I am." You see what's lacking in the church, friend? Now, what we need is a... We need to be--start all over.

E-28    You get a new spirit; you quit your drinking. You get a new spirit you quit your drink--lying. You get a new spirit; you can do most anything with that spirit, but that isn't what God's talking about. "A new spirit," He said, "I'll give you..." Now watch, "I'll give you a new heart and a new spirit." Why, He'd have to give you a new spirit to live for Him.

Why, you couldn't even live with yourself with the spirit you did have. You couldn't live with your neighbor. You couldn't associate with the next man on the next corner. You couldn't associate with these Christians. Why, you'd have had an awful spirit. So He has to give you a new spirit. "I'll give you a new heart, a new spirit." Now, watch. "And I will put My Spirit in you." There's the difference. "I'll put My Spirit in you."

And there's where you find it so hard that you go down to church and you get a different concept. "You know what? I believe I ought to go to church."

E-26    A man thinks with his head, but believes with his heart. That's right. The intellectual will reason. Oh, I'm too bad. I can't do this. This... Oh, if I could go over there, I will be... oh..." See, that's reasoning, but the heart doesn't reason. It just accepts the Word the way It is, and believes It. The Bible said we should cast down reasoning. That's right. We're to believe, not reason. Just believe it.

"A new heart will I give you." Now, here's where many of the people has made a mistake. "And a new spirit will I give you." Now, He never said, "I'll just polish up the old spirit, polish up the old heart," but, "I'll give you a new heart and a new spirit."
