Psa 46:1 To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psa 46:2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Psa 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Ecc 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Ecc 3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
Ecc 3:3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
Ecc 3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Ecc 3:5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
Ecc 3:6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
Ecc 3:7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

There's three stages of Ruth.
Ruth--Ruth, deciding, she was deciding whether she would make the decision or
not, to go back into the homeland (just like the church): Ruth, serving, when
she went out to glean. Ruth, resting, that's what Ruth is doing now (the
church). Now, Ruth, rewarded, now that's what her next thing happened is the
reward of the church.
And when Boaz saw this widow, a type of Christ, he fell for her. And he
loved her. So that he had to redeem, the only way he could ever get her to be
wife was to redeem what his brother, Elimelech had lost.
2Ti 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
2Ti 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
2Ti 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2Ti 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
2Ti 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
2Ti 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
2Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
1Pe 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS JEFFERSONVILLE IN 59-1223 124
476-40Now, in that man was some of these spirits
that was cast out of the swine in Gadara. Some of those poor people are out
here in the insane institution beating their heads against padded bars, cells.
Remember, devils never die. Devils always live, but there will be a time where
devils will have to die. They will become totally annihilated. But now they are
alive, and they work from generation to generation upon human beings. Some of
them is in the form of cancer; some is in the form of epilepsy; some is in the
form of tuberculosis. They get into the flesh, but seemingly they are powerless
until they can get into a person. They have to operate through a person, which
brings to another thought, that the Holy Spirit is--covers the earth but It is
almost helpless until It gets into you and to me.
Psa 63:1 A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
Psa 63:2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Psa 63:3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
THIRSTING.FOR.LIFE_CHICAGO.ILSUNDAY_57-0630
E-27Listen to what David said here, "My
soul thirsts after thee in a dry land, where no water is." Oh, could you
imagine being in a dry land, where no water is. That's taking a--like taking a
fish out of the water. It'd kill him pretty soon. And the real borned again
saint of God, not just once of a morning when you get up, but all through the
day, that blessed thirst calls out for God. And you'll smoke a cigarette to
quieten your nerves instead of praying, and a member of the church. You'll take
a little sociable drink and call yourself a Christian, to quieten your nerves,
in the stead of letting God quieten you, love Him.
THIRSTING.FOR.LIFE_CHICAGO.ILSUNDAY_57-0630
E-28 You'll go up and throw your arms around some
other man, have a little clean fun, have a little date on the side, a little
afternoon kiss at the back gate to satisfy that thirst that God put in you to
thirst after Him. And you'll take another man's wife, and run off with her, and
live in a hotel with her, and carry on like that. I don't say you do it; you
may be here. If you are, God burn that in your soul (That's right.), thinking
you're having a little clean fun. There's an all seeing eye watching you.
And the devil is
trying to burn your passions after other women as they walk up-and-down the
street half dressed. And your long looking, almost half wreck, at them little
old dirty, vulgar, stinking women out there with them little old dirty clothes
on.
And you men
that'll let your wife do that, that shows what you're made out of. That shows
what kind of a man you are. A man is the head of the family; he's the head of
the house. But today the women's the head of the house, head of the factory,
head of the church, and everything else, because it's become a conglomeration
of sin. And Satan took Eve, and he's still using her. And America is a woman's
nation.
E-29Not long ago in Germany, or Switzerland,
some lady said to me, a Christian woman; she said, "Brother Branham, I'd
like to go over to America. I hear that the ladies are really... Well, they
have the big sway there." Not in Switzerland. No, sir. "Well, we have
no..." I said, "But here's what follows. It causes
prostitution." Right here in Chicago, according to your paper, you have
two thousand abortion cases every day, two thousand abortion cases. Two
thousand innocent babies die every day because of filth. How can you have a
revival under them kind of circumstances.
How many
prostitutes hit the street last night, and men with other women, and women with
other men? And little girls sell their morals, and up-and-down the street, till
finally they end up on skid row down here. As I walked through the city last
night of Chicago and I looked what was going on. How can you expect the Holy
Spirit to sweep a revival over something like that? It's got to have a place to
anchor.
E-30And they go through the churches out here
of a morning, and hear a little old pettified sermon about something, go back
home and think they are Christians, and close the church up early. If the
pastor preaches more then twenty minutes on the roses, or who will be the next
president, or something like that, they will fire him and put a new one in.
That bunch of hypocrisy, hell bound, vulgar, pleasure seeking, the Bible said,
"They'd be heady, highminded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,
truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, and despisers of those that are
right."
God, give us old
time Christianity, borned again experiences. That thirst--that thirst is in
you, but it's for a purpose.
THIRSTING.FOR.LIFE_CHICAGO.ILSUNDAY_57-0630
E-31Woman was made woman for a man. Man was not made for woman, woman was
made for man. But a woman was made for a man, not m-a-n, m-a-n, not men, many
of them, but singular. That's right. But when they sell their morals, when they
scandalize themselves, and men, the same thing, you're perverting the very
cause that God made you a women or a man. Then you call that life. It's death.
Then you go to church, and join church, and put your name on the church, and
become a church member, and live like the world. It's perverting the very thing
that God intended you to be, that thirst that God put in you to be like Him and
to love Him and thirst after Him. The pastors, and the churches, and yourself,
you've robbed yourself from that wonderful blessed thing that God ordained for
you to use, that thirst: thirsting, thirsting.
E-33Notice, David said again, as being a
psalmist. And he was a woodsman; he lived in the woods. He knowed what it meant
to be in the woods. He always wrote of the still waters, and green pastures,
and the shady places. He knowed what it was, because a shepherd has to find
those things. He has to know where those beautiful places are.
Many times have
I been into the desert, riding out there, just place where I'd have to lead my
horse. Poor thing was so much out of water, we couldn't have any to drink, the
horse or I. How we would thirst... Oh, if only I could find a track somewhere
to get back.
THIRSTING.FOR.LIFE_CHICAGO.ILSUNDAY_57-0630
E-34And then when you get to that state, the devil begins to show you
mirages. You know what a mirage is? Did you ever go down the road and look and
see the sun shining on the road, looked like a lot of water? Oh, it'll fool
you.
Here not long
ago I seen where a bunch of geese coming from Canada, or ducks, and they seen
one of those on the road, and fell in the road and they all bursted open. They
thought it was a water.
Oh, the devil's
got a many a pitfall for the people. It looks like it. And I've seen people
thirsting, where they'd run into these places and fall into them, look, think
they was in water. Looks just like a big running water, throw sand upon their
head thinking it's water. And it's nothing but hot burning sand.
And then they
was up there whooping it around, kinda relaxing, they would call it. One of
them stopped and said, "Whoopee, this is life."
I said,
"Oh, no, that's not life; that's death. The Bible said, 'She that liveth
in pleasure is dead while she is alive.'" The Bible said that.
THIRSTING.FOR.LIFE_CHICAGO.ILSUNDAY_57-0630
E-20And this many times that the devil tries to tell you that that's life.
But that's death. And notice also that that life becomes so miserable till
people take that life, take a gun and blow their brains out. There'll be many
of them in Chicago perhaps this summer.
Our womanhood is
broke. Motherhood of America is crashed. The morals is as rotten as in any
nation there is in the world. What's the matter? It's because they have loved
the things of the world more than they loved God, and they got a perverted. Exactly
right.
Not only that,
but our churches is crushed. Little old pulpit, sissified preachers that stands
up in... I ain't criticizing no certain ones. But they stand up, and it's a
meal ticket. It's an offering, or it's a popular name to get on television or
on the air. I wouldn't sell my birthright to Jesus Christ for all the
televisions and popularity there is in the world. No, sir. Life means more than
these nasty ungodly things. I'd rather have favor with Christ then to be the
president of the world. What a condition the world's got into.
E-25Listen, friends. God created a man to
thirst. God put thirst in a man. A man was made to thirst. And do you mean to
tell me that you would try to quench that blessed holy thirst with the world,
and with the devil's programs. You try to quench that thirst with drinking
whiskey, that God put in you to thirst after Him? There's something in man to
thirst; God made that thirst for man to thirst for Him. But you try to quench
it with pleasure.
And this
American people has quenched it with pleasure, mad. That's right. That blessed,
holy thirst... You strip yourself on these beaches. You'll lay in these pool
rooms, playing cards, social drinking, all this nonsense that you do, and stay
home on Wednesday night watching the television instead of going to church.
What are you doing? You're trying to quench that holy thirst. You got to quench
it some way. And you reject Christ, and the devil pours his slop into you.
Right. And you think that you're right, but the Bible said, "There is a
way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of
death." Death is total annihilation, separation. Don't you never try to
quench that blessed thirst with something the devil put into you.
E-26Now, not only... You say, "Well, I'm
not a drunkard. I'm not a gambler. I'm not a pleasure seeker." But,
brother, if the devil can't get you one way, he will try another. And the devil
has tried to quench with his type of life, the thirst that God give you for His
Life. He just let you join church. He's let you shout. He's let you speak with
tongues. He's let you do all kinds of demonstrations, and still, you're
drinking from the devils slop pens. That's exactly right.
When a man
thirsts after God, his whole being is surrendered to God. People goes around
today, and joins churches, and lives like the devil. They think they quench
that thirst. "I go to church; that settles it." Many times I told
them when they come on Easter, that's usually when everybody wants to show their
new hat. They'll come on Easter; you might as well bid them a Merry Christmas,
'cause you won't see them again till next Easter. And yet they're members of
the church. They are members of that denomination. But a member of the Church
is borned again of the Spirit of God and their soul cannot live by bread alone,
but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. That blessed holy
thirst that God give you to thirst after Him. Then you pervert it. Give it
something else. That hunger, that thing that you want to do, test out and see
what it's thirsting for; see what it's after.
E-51Just be praying; the Holy Spirit's
speaking. That little heart in you is moving.
... sinners plunged beneath that flood
Tonight
say...?... Say, "Brother, preacher, I've longed for something; I don't
know what it was." There's only one thing that longing was put in you for,
that's right here. Here's where you long to be. The devil's trying to get you
not to see it. But I'm praying in my heart as I'm standing here, "God,
open the eyes of their understanding." I love you.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Mat 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Mar 10:46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. Mar 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. Mar 10:48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. Mar 10:49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. Mar 10:50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. Mar 10:51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. Mar 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
Joh 9:1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. Joh 9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Joh 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. Joh 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. Joh 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. Joh 9:6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, Joh 9:7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
Luk 13:11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. Luk 13:13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. Luk 13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. Luk 13:15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? Luk 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? Luk 13:17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. Luk 13:18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2Ti 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

Luk 8:34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.
Luk 8:35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

E-13You know the biggest story that was ever
told, the biggest lie that was ever told is one that's got a whole lot of truth
in it. Now, the biggest lie was ever told, was what Satan told Eve. See, it had
a whole lot of truth in it. And now, you come around and say something that's
just really right straight out a lie, why, you wouldn't believe that; you know
better. But when it comes to a place where it's got about ninety-nine percent
truth and one percent lie, that's the deceiving type. That's the kind you have
to watch, is them kind. And that's just what the devil's good at. He told Eve
everything truth, but one thing. See?

Eve just doubted one little Word,
not all God said, just one little Word, and it caused every heartache and
heartbreak, and death, and sin, and battles, and everything else, every grave,
every ambulance ever screamed, every hospital was built for the sick. Her one
little doubting one little Word of God caused all of this. And she was put out,
when this never would've had to happen. How are you going to get in, doubting
one Word of It? Say, "I know It says that, but It..." It means just
that.

But see, It was, to me, It's
absolute Truth. That's what we look for, is Truth. Jesus said, "You shall
know the Truth, the Truth shall set you free." And He is that Truth. He
is, Jesus, the Son of God, is the Truth of the Word, because He was the Word
made flesh. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us." Then,
that made Him the Truth, because the Word is the Truth, and He was the Truth.

36 Such a person and such a man, such a time
and how they felt... We have also ourselves, we've seen the Glory of God like
these man did. Sure. We seen It. We seen the Glory of God like Abraham saw It.
We saw the Glory of God like Moses saw It, same Pillar of Fire, the same power
of God, the same Christ un... revealing Himself, showing Himself, keeping His
Word in the last days. How can we come by then, and walk and treat It so
lightly? How can we walk around and hold to our creeds and denominations, and
not take the Word of God? What will it be for us in that day? How will it
happen with us, when we seen the Glory of God?
Jos 20:2 Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:
Jos 20:3 That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
Jos 20:4 And when he that doth flee unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
Jos 20:5 And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he smote his neighbour unwittingly, and hated him not beforetime.
Jos 20:6 And he shall dwell in that city, until he stand before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the slayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.
2Sa 22:2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
2Sa 22:3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Rom 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Rom 7:16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Rom 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Luk 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
Luk 10:31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
Luk 10:32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
Luk 10:33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
Luk 10:34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Now, if you want to do right, I'm
so glad tonight to tell you that there is a City of refuge; that's Jesus
Christ. If you don't want to do wrong, the enemy's after you, then there's a
way of escape; and that escape is Jesus Christ. There's a place where you can
come and let off the steam. But if you're--love to sin and you don't want God,
then the enemy's going to overtake you somewhere. You have no... You can't come
to Christ, because you don't want to.
And when this man comes to
Christ, this place of Refuge... When a man come in in the Old Testament, the
first thing, he had to come upon his own free will. And that's the way you have
to come to Christ.
84Another thing, you must be satisfied while
you're there. You don't... You can't hang around every day crying, "I'd like
to get out of here; I'd like to get out of here." They put you out. You
must willfully want to stay. It must be that you must want to stay in that
city.
And when you come to Christ, you
can't look back to the world. The Bible said, "He that puts his hand on
the plow and turns to look back's not worthy of plowing." Now, there's
where so many so-called Christians make their mistake. See, they act like
they're going to plow, but the first little thing comes along, they blow up
about it.
86The other day I had an
experience of that, as you all know. And I thank you for your prayers. As I
hunt, and fish, and shoot targets, and things, I've always wanted a Weatherby
magnum rifle. Well, some of my friends would've bought it for me; I know
people, if I'd just have mentioned it, they'd gladly done it. Frankly, two or
three wanted to do it. But I couldn't see them put that much money in a rifle
when I know missionaries ain't got shoes on their feet. I couldn't do that. And
Brother Wilson give Billy Paul a little .257 Roberts. And a brother friend of
mine said, "Brother Branham, Weatherby can bore that gun, I can have it
done for a cheap price if you'll let me do it for you." Well, I let him do
it.
Come back, put a shell in the
gun, and went to shoot it, and the thing blowed up in my hands. And the barrel
went almost to the fifty yard line, the bolt way back behind me. And it's a
wonder it just didn't cut me half in two. There was about five or six tons of
pressure that close to me.
One of the doctors said,
"The only thing I know, that the good Lord was setting there to protect
His servant."
QUESTIONA AND ANSWER #4
And as long as you're in this
life, you're going to be sticky and have a carnal nature that's going to bother
you as long as you live; but the inside of you, you're borned again. And when
you're raised up, you're in the likeness of Christ and all the sin is gone from
you. See? That's--that's the thing.
1151-36Somebody told me he had one, one time was
converted, received the Holy Ghost, and he said to him, "How you getting
along?"
He said, "Pretty good and
pretty bad."
He said, "Well, how do you
mean pretty bad and pretty good?"
He said, "Well, since me
receive the Holy Ghost," he said, "there's been two dogs in me, and
one of them a black dog and one of them a white dog." And said, "They
argue all the time." Said, "They growl and fight at one
another." And said, "The white dog wants me do good; the black dog
wants me do bad."
Said, "Well, Chief, which
one of them wins the fight?"
Said, "That depends on which
one Chief feeds the most." So I think that's a good answer here. See?
There just depends on the warring of the body that's in you; it depends on
which one you cater to, which nature you cater to, the carnal nature after the
things of the world, or the spiritual nature after the things of God. That does
it.

THE GREATEST BATTLE EVER
FOUGHT JEFFERSONVILLE IN62-0311171 V-3 N-11
13-1This great first battle that was ever
fought begin in heaven when Michael and his Angels fought against Lucifer and
his angels. It first started--the first battle was in heaven, so sin did not
originate on earth; it originated in h
eaven. And then it was thrown down from
heaven, cast out of heaven to the earth and fell on human beings. Then the
battle from Angels become human battles. And Satan come to destroy God's
creation. What God had created to be for Hisself, he had (Satan), come to
destroy this. That's what his purpose was, was to destroy it.
Then the battle begin here on
earth and begin in us, and it's been raging ever since.
13-4And in this, there's a--a
mutual ground, "no-man's-land," and they fight here at this place.
They just don't one fight over here, and one down here, and one right over
here; there's a battle front where they meet and test their powers, where each
army tests its strength against the other army--a mutual meeting place.
Now, don't get--miss this. When
this great battle started on earth, there had to be a mutual meeting place;
there had to be a place selected for the battle to begin, and for the battle to
rage; and that battlegrounds begin in the human mind. There's where the battle
starts. The human mind was chosen for the place of the battle, where it was to
begin; and that is, because that decisions are made from the mind, the head.
Now, they never started it from
some organization; they never started it from some mechanical affair; the
grounds never started there; therefore, that organization can never, never do
the work of God, because the battlegrounds, where you've got to meet your
enemy, is in the mind. You've got to make your choice. It meets you.
I want this little girl here
that's very sick to be sure to listen now to this real closely.
14-2Decisions are made in the
mind, the head. There's where Satan meets you. And the decisions are, because
that God made a man that way. Now, I have... If you was looking on my note
here, a little map drawed out. I had it here not long ago on--used on the
board.
The human being is made up just
like a grain of wheat. It's a seed, and the human being is a seed. Physically
you're the seed of your father and mother, and the life come from the father,
the pulp come from the mother. So the two together, the egg and the--the blood
comes together, and in the blood cell is life, and in there it begins to
develop making the--the child.
14-5Now, if you'll set down when
you get home and draw three little rings, you'll find out that the outside body
has five senses it's contacted by, and that is see, taste, feel, smell, hear;
that's the five senses that control the human body. Inside of the body is a
soul, and that soul is controlled by imaginations, conscience, memory, reasons,
and affections; that's the thing that controls the soul. But the spirit, it's
only has one sense--the spirit. Oh, let's get it! The spirit has one sense, and
that sense is--either dominates it, is faith or doubt. That's exactly. And
there's only one avenue to it, that's free moral agency. You can accept doubt
or you can accept faith, either one you want to work on.
Therefore, Satan begin at the
principal part to cause the spirit of man to doubt God's Word. God begin at the
principal part to lay His Word in that spirit. There you are, that's what does
it.
15-2If this church right now
could be put together and knitted together with such, that every person would
be in one accord, with not one shadow of doubt anywhere, there would not be a
feeble person in our midst in another five minutes; there would not be nobody
here desiring the Holy Ghost, but what would receive It. If you could just get
that certain thing fixed.
15-3Now, there's where the
battle begins--right in your mind, whether you will... Now, you remember, it's
not Christian Science now, mind over matter; that hasn't... The mind accepts
the Life which is the Word of God, and there brings the Life. Just your thought
doesn't do it, but the Word of God brought in the channel of your thought. See?
It's not the thought, as Christian Science make it, mind over matter. No. That
isn't it. But your mind accepts it and grasp it. What is your mind controlled
by? Your spirit; and your spirit catches the Word of God, and that's the thing
that's got Life in it. It brings Life into you.
Oh, brother, when that takes
place, when Life comes down that channel into you, the Word of God is
manifested in you. "If ye abide in Me and My words abide in you, then ask
what you will and it'll be done for you."
15-5Then what does that do?
From the middle of the heart, which is the soul, from there goes forth, feeding
every channel. The trouble of it is we're standing in here with a lot of doubt
trying to accept what's out there. You've got to stop that and come down that
channel with the true Word of God, and then it goes out, itself, automatically.
It's what's on the inside. That's the thing that counts, is the inside. Satan's
approach is from the inside.
HUMBLE.THYSELF_JEFF.INV-21 N-1SUNDAY_63-0714E
77You know, people want power, and really they
don't know what power is. See, they--they don't really know what--what--what
goes with it. The--the way up is down, always. If you want power, see how
humble you can get. Just get away from all your worldly thinking, and humble
yourself before God, and then you've got more power than the man that runs all
over the building and makes a big lot of noise; see, because you have been able
to conquer yourself, and commit yourself to Christ, you see, to humble yourself
before Him. That's really power.
78You show me a church that's humble, real
humble, not a--a arrogancy; a church, just a sweet, humble church, I'll show
you a church that has the favor and power of God in it. That's right. That's
the thing it takes, humility, humbling ourselves before God, letting God just
work through us. Don't have to make a lot of noise.
HUMBLE.THYSELF_ JEFF.INV-21 N-1SUNDAY_63-0714E
81Above all things, it's our
individual souls that we're responsible before God. See, it--it's you going to
Heaven. It isn't whether I go, or he goes. It's you going, see, and you first.
And you've got to look this out and come sweet before the Lord.
82And I've always found out that the man that
humbles himself is the man that God exalts. When you take a person with his
chest out and knows everything, and you can't tell him nothing, and he is
arrogant, and--and, well, that--that's the person that never gets anywhere. But
you take that person that humbles themself and walks sweetly.
I've often said, "The
greatest enemy I got is William Branham." He's the one that gets in God's
way. He's the one that gets lazy. He's the one that gets to a place sometimes
where he thinks he can do something about it, and when he does, that shoves God
right out of the picture. But when I can get rid of that guy, when I can get to
a place that he's out of the way, then God can come over and do things that
William Branham knows nothing about.
That's when God can use you.
That's when He can use any of you. He can use anybody when we get out of the
way. But as long as we got ourselves in the way, then we cannot. All right.
PROVING HIS WORD
260Now to heal, I cannot, you know that.
"What is a gift, Brother Branham, something that you take?" No. It's
something you know how to get yourself out of the way. See? As long as you are
there, it'll never work. William Branham is the greatest enemy I got. See? But
when I get him out of the way, see, then Jesus Christ can use the body. See?
See, now, I come to that woman. Now what? Now say if--if she--if she was sick.
YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN
Still with tempers, still mean,
arrogant, somebody say something about you, you right up ready to fight, then
borned of the Spirit of God? No. God's Spirit don't do like that. No. God's
Spirit is humble, meek, sweet, long-suffering. That's God. loving, kind,
forgiving, that's God's Spirit. Oh, yes.
PERFECT.STRENGTH.BY.PERFECT.WEAKNESS
JEFF.IN61-11
118Here's something to console us. Here's
something that encourages. Out of weakness and humility God chooses the people
to build His Kingdom out of. If we ever get to heaven, if we ever stand in the
Presence of God with His Church, we'll stand in a bunch of people that's been
weak and rejected and cast out by the world, and know-it-nothings.

IN GENESIS, GOD TOLD
ADAM AND EVE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN WHEN THEY DISBELIEVED HIS WORD.
PROVING.HIS.WORD_JEFF.INV-9 N-6SUNDAY_64-0816
76In Genesis, God told
Adam and Eve what would happen when they disbelieved His Word. Now, He put
right and wrong before them, and He said, "The day you eat thereof, that
day you'll die." And
God meant just exactly what He said. He always does, He means what He says.
GOD FORTIFIED HIS
PEOPLE BEHIND HIS WORD, THAT'S YOUR ONLY DEFENSE.
77Satan led her to disbelieve It, for Satan himself never did believe It.
He don't believe It, so he led her to believe it. And he still does the same
thing, and teaches others the same, and they disbelieve It like she did. God fortified His people behind His Word, that's your only
defense. Not your denomination, not your father or your mother, it's all
right, but behind God's Word. That's the place that the believer is protected, behind the
Word. When that little avenue was broken there, with a little
"wonder if It's right or not? It wouldn't," reasoning come in and
took the place of faith, they broke the bars. And God kept His Word, He
performed It. Satan tried to get her to believe... disbelieve It.
….. THEY WERE GETTING
THEMSELVES SCHOLARSHIPS, MAKING THEMSELVES GREAT MAN. BUT GOD, IN THE MIDST OF
ALL OF IT, HE RAISED UP A PROPHET…
PROVING.HIS.WORD_JEFF.INV-9 N-6SUNDAY_64-0816
137Here's another thing God did, to
show that He was God. Man got so, after in the wilderness there, that they were
getting themselves scholarships, making themselves great man. They had some
organizations called Pharisees, Sadducees, Herodians, and whatever more. And
they were great man. They made priests out of one another. And they done great
things like that, make high priests and big man, and dignitaries and so forth.
138But God, in the midst of all of it, He raised up a
prophet, a son of a priest. Never... went into the wilderness at nine years old. Couldn't read his
name, if it was in letter the size of a box car. Why, why did he do it? He was
a prophet. If he had been trained in the education of his father, he'd
a-probably been a Pharisee or a Sadducee, or one of their groups. But he had an important job, that was to announce the
Messiah. Cause why? God kept His Word, and proved it. "A voice of
one crying from the seminary, 'Behold I've got my doctor's degree'"?
That--that might be in the Old Ladies Birthday Almanac, but not in God's Word. He said, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
'Prepare the way of the Lord, and make His paths straight!'" Was He
preparing the way of the Word then, that the Word could be made manifest?
Hallelujah!
IT WAS GOD'S WORD BEING PROVEN, "GOD'S ABLE OF THESE STONES!"
GOD PROMISED IT,…
PROVING.HIS.WORD_JEFF.INV-9 N-6SUNDAY_64-0816
139Don't you see, in shadows? Stop
here a minute. In the last days, there's got to be a place prepared for the
Word to be made manifest, and we're now living by the evidence of the new Land,
amen, the Son of man.
140John's commission, without education, without anything, stayed in the
wilderness. His sermons was in types. "Ax is laid to the root of the
tree," that's what he saw. Cut with the ax, make his shack, make some fire
to burn his wood. "Oh, you generation of snakes," that's what he saw.
The nastiest thing in the jungle, to him, in the bush, was a snake. Said,
"You generation of snakes, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to
come? Don't begin to say, 'We've got this, and we belong to this, and we belong
to that,' God's able of these stones to raise up Children to Abraham. The ax is
laid to the root of the tree, and every tree that don't bring forth good fruit..."
What does he do in the wilderness when it won't...
bring up some locusts and things for him, he cuts it down and burns it up.
See? "He'll gather the wheat into the garner, but
the chaff he'll burn with an unquenchable fire." A man like that,
not even with his clergy coat on, not even his priest's bonnet. See? He come
with a piece of sheepskin draped around him, with a piece of leather cut off of
a camel's back, ragged around him, and come out there with his whiskers and
hair bushed out like that, said, "The ax is laid to the root of the
tree." Amen. He come, daring. Why? It was God's
Word being proven, "God's able of these stones!" God promised it,
"Behold, I send my messenger before My face." Not a very
religious, not a scientific or a religious proof, but God's Word's proof. God
was keeping His Word, see. Not a scholar at all, but a prophet, sent in the
Name of the Lord. He did that, why? To confirm His Word.
IT'S GOD'S CHOOSING, BY PREDESTINATION, FOREKNOWLEDGE. HE COMES BY GOD'S
WAY OF CHOOSING.
PROVING.HIS.WORD_JEFF.INV-9 N-6SUNDAY_64-0816
141Now, them priests said,
"Now, we know there's coming one in the last days, so we'll school every
boy we got, and get ready for it. Every one of you boys must have a college
education. You must come in here. No doubt but what it will be in the lineage,
he'll come in the way of the Levites, because there's where the priesthood come
from." But he wasn't a priest, he was a prophet! And that's of God's
choosing. He don't have to come
from a certain denomination or certain lineage. It's
God's choosing, by predestination, foreknowledge. He comes by God's way of
choosing. So they wouldn't believe him, because he didn't come the way that
they had made, thought he was coming. That could repeat again, you know,
usually does. But we find that he come the way that God did, to prove His Word.
AND GOD CAUSED A VIRGIN
TO CONCEIVE. WHAT? TO PROVE HIS WORD.
PROVING.HIS.WORD_JEFF.INV-9 N-6SUNDAY_64-0816
142Notice, He
caused the virgin to conceive, to prove His Word. Isaiah 9:6, and we
find out that, "Unto us a son is born, a child is given." Now, we
find out that He had said that a virgin should conceive. And God caused a
virgin to conceive. What? To prove His Word. Now listen just a few minutes,
we'll be closing. He caused a virgin to conceive, to
prove His Word. That was absolutely... It stumped all scientists.
[Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.]... to go.
THIS HAS STUMPED
SCIENCE THROUGH THE AGES. IT STILL DOES.
PROVING.HIS.WORD_JEFF.INV-9 N-6SUNDAY_64-0816
147Now notice, He caused this
virgin to conceive, and it's in this she brought forth a Son without knowing a
man. This has stumped science through the ages. It
still does. They perhaps laughed at Isaiah when he spoke and said this
virgin would conceive, "Now, how could that be?"
148I imagine, Isaiah, the embarrassment, when he heard God say, "I'll
give them a super sign, I'll give them an everlasting sign, a virgin shall
conceive." Now, him, noted amongst the people, his people, a prophet,
vindicated of God. Now when he come out before the doctors and so forth, with
this statement, "A virgin shall conceive." See, it had never been,
since the beginning of time, goes way on back to where God created His first
man. But here, now, that, a woman that's here on earth is going to conceive.
Think of it in a sensible realm, what if that prophet was embarrassed? But he knowed God would keep His Word, He would prove it. I
imagine, every Hebrew family got their little daughter ready to have this baby,
see, bought it shoes and boots, or whatever they wear, and little bird-eye, and
got ready for--for the baby to come. Generations
passed, but God proved His Word! A virgin did conceive, and she brought forth
the baby, proved that His prophet's Word was the Truth. He always stands by
them.
